Black Isle Blackout Tartan Wool Kilt - standard

Ever wanted a REAL wool kilt and find a little sticker shock?  Well this 100 percent wool kilt will fill the need.  It is a traditional wool kilt with 3 buckles and a double fringed apron.  Made from a great quality 13 oz - 16 oz wool.  This is the perfect kilt for that budget minded Scotsman that wants a wool kilt

  • Traditional 3 buckle straps
  • Made from 13 - 16 oz wool (currently these are closer to a 16oz)
  • Double Fringed apron
  • BLACKOUT - all buckles are black (other kilts are chrome)
  • Comes with a 24 inch total length
The size that you choose for your order will be the smallest setting on the buckle straps (i.e. a size 36 adjusts from a 36 up to just under a 40).  Depending on where you want the buckle to end on your waist will determine your size.  A good rule of thumb to follow is to go down 2 inches from your measured waist size.  That will put you in the middle of the buckle straps (i.e. 40 measured would order a 38).
You MUST measure in order to get the correct size.  Please visit our measuring section of the website to determine which size is best for you.  DO NOT use your pants or jeans size to determine your kilt size.

Spectacular Blackout Black Isle Wool Kilt

Posted by James Mellema on 13th Jan 2018

This is my first wool kilt and the third kilt I purchased from UTKilts. lt fits well and hangs nicely when belted to the middle of the straps (I followed instructions for a change and dropped down 2 inches from the measure size) and still allows for a little more weight loss. The blacked out pattern looks black till out in sunlight when the tartan actually comes out. I'm having it shortened about 1.5 inches to go with my short stature by a local seamstress who has shortened my previous kilts. I will buy more from Bryce, the kilts are made well and the service from UT is outstanding.

Looks really great dressed up for Church on Sunday with wool vest and jacket. Can't think of any 'but' about Bryce or his products.

This Kilt came quickly unfortunately it had done thread issues but the owner took great care to make it right.

The final product was worth the attention I recieved and the amount of requests for pictures with. I wore this kilt with formal jacket and vest. The price makes it priceless.

    Black as night

Excellent garment. Have only worn one other kilt since I got it (My ultimate comfort waist also from UT) and only because I was on tour and traditionalish style with a sporran is far from comfortable on long stretches of road. I love the subtle tartan, the weight, and the pleat.

Great quality. It looks fantastic, with a subtle plaid that isn't readily visible in the photos on the site. Great features and the price is killer. This is a fantastic product

    First wool kilt

Posted by Dr. Sledge on 9th Jan 2017

My measurements for a kilt at my natural waist are 42 and 22 long. I ordered a 42, and it fit perfectly at the tightest notch on the belts. Brice was great for returns, so I got a 40, which also fits perfectly and leaves room to lose weight. The kilt itself is excellent workmanship and fine wool. The lining is strategically placed for comfort. No kidding, I posed for a pic wearing this kilt in the snow and I was comfortable. My wife also ordered me a kilt belt. It is sorta traditional-it has velcro to make it work better. Love it. UT Kilts has my business now.

    Yes Sir!

This is the kilt I've been looking for. Well made, lots of features, and at a modest price tag. I wear this one all the time, mostly for formal occasions, but it is my go to.
    Thank you.

Great garment for sure! Nice and heavy so it hangs well and is more than comfortable.
