Black Watch Tartan Wool Kilt - Standard

Ever wanted a REAL wool kilt and find a little sticker shock?  Well this 100 percent wool kilt will fill the need.  It is a traditional wool kilt with 3 buckles and a double fringed apron.  Made from a great quality 13 oz wool.  This is the perfect kilt for that budget minded Scotsman that wants a wool kilt

  • Traditional 3 buckle straps
  • Made from 13 oz wool (can vary depending on the weave, but currently at a 13 oz)
  • Double Fringed apron
  • Comes with a 24 inch total length
The size that you choose for your order will be the smallest setting on the buckle straps (i.e. a size 36 adjusts from a 36 up to just under a 40).  Depending on where you want the buckle to end on your waist will determine your size.  A good rule of thumb to follow is to go down 2 inches from your measured waist size.  That will put you in the middle of the buckle straps (i.e. 40 measured would order a 38).
You MUST measure in order to get the correct size.  Please visit our measuring section of the website to determine which size is best for you.  DO NOT use your pants or jeans size to determine your kilt size.

    Kilts for everyone!

Posted by Tom L on 13th Oct 2017

UTKilts is the best place to by your kilts. Customer service, Brice, is the best. If you have a problem he will take care of you.
This kilt which is 100% wool is fantastic. Quality is 5 stars. The construction of this kilt is amazing. So well made. I’ve purchased other kilts from other places some for less money but they can’t compare to UTKilts. This kilt is so well made. My friends think I spent a fortune on my kilts. I tell them they need to go so UTKilts for their next purchase.

    Trousers are overrated

Warning: May cause you to lose your pants.
I got this kilt two years ago for a friend's wedding; now I whine about it whenever I have to wear trousers. I wear this kilt most days spring and fall, and often in the winter (with some ren boots to keep my legs warm). I've since bought a couple more kilts, but this is still my nicest.

    Quality and Service

Posted by Morgan G. on 7th Oct 2016

The tartan was beautifully woven, and super thick to boot. UT kilts were contacted me shortly after if placed my order to ensure everything went smoothly, shipping wise. When I order my next kilt (which will definitely be soon) I'm going with these guys. They've officially earned a customer for life.

This kilt is incredible; real bang for the buck. When you consider that basically anything in the "low-price kilt" tier usually falls in the hundreds of dollars category, this is your value product.
The wool is the real deal; feels great to the touch and wears like a dream. Pleats are tight and in great shape upon arrival.
The one and only criticism I might give is the quality of the leather straps. While I'm not worried about them falling apart, I can foresee them getting worn out before anything else on the kilt.
All in all, BUY THIS THING. It feels tough enough for fun, but looks good enough for a wedding. You will not be disappointed.
P.S. Brice Lythgoe provides some of the finest customer service I've ever seen. This is the company you want to do business with.

    Great for the price

Posted by Tooj on 22nd May 2016

This kilt is great for the price. Well constructed. Two issues: the back does not have the pleat material removed where stitched down, so it can be a bit heavy.

Secondly, when pressing this kilt out, I found a couple flaws in the weave but they are covered by the pleating. Overall, still a terrific value for the price.

You get what you pay for

I ordered this kilt and recieved it in 3 days. After close inspection I can see why this product is a bit cheaper than others. There are a few "flaws" in the wool in different places. Nothing crazy and you would have to be right up close to see it, so its not a reason that I would consider returning it. The fit is good but when measuing my waist I measured 38.5" so I ordered a 38. I have plenty of room in the straps and buckles to grow bigger, but I better not lose any weight cause they are already at the tightest.
It is a nice light weight for summer and after running an iron over it the pleats hang very nice and have a good "swing."
All-in-all, this is perfect for wearing to the pub and casual use, where you dont mind if It gets dirty. For more formal events I will stick with my 16 yard B&S tank!

    Great Value

Posted by Bob on 13th Feb 2016

I spent a lot of time looking at kilts, and you can't touch a wool kilt of this quality for twice the price ... in fact most acrylic kilts are more costly. Personal service, quick response. Also, on my recommendation, a friend just purchased a utility kilt outfit, and it looks great as well.

A great value and a well made kilt. This kilt was considerbly less costly than some I was looking. The quality is superb and the kilt fit perfectly. I love it!
