Absolutely recommended to anyone. Looks great. Well made. Great fit. Quality product at an affordable price.
This is an inexpensive kilt that is made surprisingly well. They style is very cool. The stitching seems to be very well done. I've worn it about one month and I'm impressed. A kilt is so complex, making it far more complicated than pants or shorts, and this one seems to hit the right quality points. I say this is a surprise because I didn't know what to expect at this price point.
I own a competitive kilt that costs 4x this one. I love that kilt, but man it's expensive to make a wardrobe from those. I'm happy to report that I'm thoroughly satisfied with this kilt... enough that I purchased a second UT kilt shortly after I got this one.
The downsides are fairly minimal, but I'll mention them for full reporting. Depending on what you're looking for, this might not be a downside, but the fabric is very heavy and stiff. It also stubbornly hangs onto wrinkles (out of my washer), particularly visible on the front apron. I've worn/washed/dried it several times now thinking it might break down and loosen up prior to writing this review. It still might, I supposed, but not yet.
I'll turn it inside-out (so the buttons/buckles don't get scuffed), and wash it in cold water. When it's spun-dry, I air dry it on some very heavy duty kilt hangers. This kilt is crazy heavy when it's wet so you need really good hangers. Still, the wrinkles persist, so a couple times I just dealt with it, and a couple times I used a cool iron w/steam. I know I could pull it out of the wash when it's rinsed, prior to the spin-dray, but that's really difficult to time out, plus it's super heavy already even after the spin-dry.
The stiff/heavy fabric does however, hold it's shape nicely when standing, which I do like.
If I had $1k to to blow on a custom kilt giving me everything I could ever want, then I would. Until then, I'll buy UT Kilts.
Bottom line is that this is an outstanding product. It's made exceptionally well, making it a very good value to all kilt-buyers! Get one.
Well i own 4 kilts from UTkilts and this is by far my favorite. I even got married in it.
I sported my Kilt to family function and it was a hit! It just happened to be in the middle of a SoCal heatwave so I know it kept me so much for comfortable with temps above 100 degrees! this was my first time wearing a kilt and I'm sold!
So comfortable, and the pockets are great.
This is my first kilt. The quality and workmanship is great. Shipping was fast and also great customer service. I wore it to a party wouldn't you know I was the only one in a kilt. I looked awesome and I also received compliments. I have to mention wearing a kilt brings comfort to a whole new level. My wife loves it!
very happy with this kilt, love the color fit was exactly as expected, speedy shipping, heavy duty garment, should last a long time, already gave out the Business cards that were in the box with my order, had 5 people ask me where i got the kilt the first day wearing it. will definitely be buying more UT Kilts products!
Being a long time formal kilt wearer, I thought I would try this out at the suggestion of my son. It is quite comfortable, especially in hot sticky weather (regimental style!) Also for driving in the car - don't scrunch your "junk"!
I think you should rethink your fitting instructions... I wear 32 size jeans, my waist measured at 34, so I did what you said and ordered a 34. The kilt arrived quickly (thanks), but it was too large in the waist. A 32 would have fit perfectly. I simply added some snap bases to the waist to tighten things up a bit, and now it fits perfectly. This difficulty is present with ALL mail order shoes & clothes, so don't fret. Didn't want to hassle with a mail order exchange.
The kilt seems quite durable and the stitching and cloth is quite good for the cost, but I don't hold out much hope for the grommets in the straps... we'll see how they hold up! Maybe I'll add some real leather straps if they fail.
So far, it's great.
Thanks for your order! It is very strange for anyone to wear the same size as their pants. I would double check your measurement as you might just have mis measured the first time.
Brice you have out done yourself once again. I placed my order on Sunday and received my Kilt yesterday. The material is durable, the fit is perfect, and the hardware makes it pop. I can't wait to wear it out. The only downside is it needs ironed to get a couple of the pleats to lay down (from being shipped in the bag and box), no biggie.
Note: Make sure you order the size you measure yourself at. I measured at a 36, ordered a 36, and it fits perfect.
The first utility kilt I bought was from a different company, and it cost me over $200. this kilt was just as high quality, but for a fraction of the cost. i absolutely love it, and see me purchasing quite a few more. the only negative, i can only blame on myself, i measured my waist at 39", so i rounded up to 40", i should have went with 38". however, that's what belts are for, right?
