Gray Highlander Wool Tartan Kilt - Standard

Ever wanted a REAL wool kilt and find a little sticker shock?  Well this 100 percent wool kilt will fill the need.  It is a traditional wool kilt with 3 buckles and a double fringed apron.  Made from a great quality 13 oz - 16 oz wool.  This is the perfect kilt for that budget minded Scotsman that wants a wool kilt

  • Traditional 3 buckle straps
  • Made from 13 - 16 oz wool (currently these are closer to a 16oz)
  • Double Fringed apron
  • Comes with a 24 inch total length
The size that you choose for your order will be the smallest setting on the buckle straps (i.e. a size 36 adjusts from a 36 up to just under a 40).  Depending on where you want the buckle to end on your waist will determine your size.  A good rule of thumb to follow is to go down 2 inches from your measured waist size.  That will put you in the middle of the buckle straps (i.e. 40 measured would order a 38).
You MUST measure in order to get the correct size.  Please visit our measuring section of the website to determine which size is best for you.  DO NOT use your pants or jeans size to determine your kilt size.

This kilt - and more important Brice - exceeded my expectation. Comparing this kilt to others in the same price range, I found this to keep with the more standard buckles over the modern velcro or other closure. Especially, as I compare this to a similarly priced kilt with buckles (from another vendor), this UTKilt is really quite good. It is a lightweight wool, but not so light that it doesn't hold the pleats or seem to wrinkle heavily after being slightly worn. I'm quite impressed!

Sure, it's not the heavy wool and 8-yard kilts my college had, but then it doesn't cost $800... yet, it fits me quite well and I am able to wear it more than just to football games.

I'll certainly be ordering more from UTKilts in the future, these are very well made and quality kilts.

This is my first traditional kilt and it is everything I was hoping for. I absolutely love this kilt and I have a feeling that you'll be hearing from me again in the very near future.

Best quality and customer service around

Purchased this kilt to add to my collection. It is very well constructed. This kilt is top notch. I do a lot of my own tailoring but kilts are not for me to make. UTKilts has given me a kilt that not even I could do better. Quality is great. Great service, fast shipping. I’ll be back for more.

ordering was too easy and could be addictive. Product arrived in 48 hours and was exactly the right size as per the measuring instructions. Good weight for winter wear and skiing.

It would get a 4.5 if there where half-points

With the exception of being a little loose, its perfect. I am at the unfortunate weight stage where 32 is to tight and 34 just a tad too loose. Otherwise looks great, perfect for formal or everyday use. And 1000% easier than trying to put on a great kilt.

    Great Inexpensive Kilt

The 13 oz. wool tartan kilt by UTKilts is an exceptional product, that can't be beat for the price. The craftsmanship is good, and this kilt should last a good long time. There is a hem. The kilt also comes with the pleats secured by a basting stitch, which needs to be removed before wearing.

For those wanting a traditional Scottish Kilt, the construction is a tad lacking. The knife pleats are pleated to the inch, and not to the sett or to the strips (so you don't get a reproduction of the plaid or a pattern, respectively, as you would in a true Scottish kilt). Also, the typical supporting parts of a traditional kilt are not present (the canvas and other reinforced panels and such), and instead there is a nicely done satin-type fabric placed over the fell area and serves more as a liner.

Considering a traditional kilt with a 13 oz tartan would easily runmany hundreds of dollars, and that the UTKilt version is under $100, you can't go wrong if you need a basic kilt that looks the part (without getting too picky with traditional Scottish Kilt construction).

    4/5 stars! Good job Brice!

    UT Kilts:
Thanks for your review. The kilts are made with a pleat to the sett. The reinforced panels and such, I suppose, might be in very expensive hand made kilts. But I have never seen them in mid range price kilts
