The ripstop is a lightweight, extremely durable fabric that is used in a variety of very demanding situations.

It is extremely easy to tell it is ripstop as you can see little squares in the fabric.

    Ripstop kilt

Posted by Christopher Conley on 29th Sep 2018

I'm really impressed with the fit, finish, and overall wearability of this kilt. I previously owned a competitor's kilt (which cost over $260); that I can no longer justify the cost difference. This thing is wonderful. Be warned, guys, this WILL get you noticed.

Great kilt for an obstacle course race!

Posted by Jonathan Cook on 7th Aug 2018

I purchased this Kilt to be used at an obstacle course race this past weekend, and it held up beautifully! It was super comfortable through the mud, water, and all the different obstacles that I encountered! Brice was incredibly helpful and helping me figure out shipping, especially since I ordered it four days before the race and got it within 2 days! I highly recommend this for any use!

    Great kilt

Posted by J. Chris McGaugh on 25th Jun 2018

This is my first kilt from UT and won't be my last.... Well made, comfortable, and durable. I bought it with the intent of backpacking with it, but I actually think it's a bit heavy for that. I'll be wearing it to the pub when I see the FOOKS down in San Diego. Cheers!

    Standard Utility Kilt review

Posted by Jeff T on 19th Jun 2018

I ordered this kilt after a trip to the desert with buddies. We said the next trip would have to involve kilts for better air flow and cooling. I was the first to order one. The website is easy to navigate with several options to choose from. There was even a chat screen to ask questions that were promptly answered. There are also many videos on Youtube with more detail. I made my selection, followed the measuring instructions, placed my order and received my kilt within a couple of days. I immediately tried it on and wondered why women don't wear skirts or dresses more often. Every man should try one! The size was right and the kilt appears to be well made as described in a review video I watched. There were no surprises except how comfortable it is. I am pretty sure I will get another kilt but in a different color.

    Standard Ripstop

Posted by Bruno Vaillancourt on 23rd May 2018

received my standard ripstop kilt today and am pleasantly surprised at how lightweight the material is! It is very well build and very comfortable, sitting perfectly at the waist. As recommended, follow the sizing instructions as it will help greatly. the kilt is put together very well and looks just a good, the pockets fit my wallet in one and my phone in the other and i use a carabiner for my keys and hang them on a belt loop. I now have a beautiful piece of clothing to wear during this upcoming summer. Well done and thank you!

    Ripstop and cotton kilt

Posted by Rand on 18th Nov 2017

I bought this kilt to hike/backpack and fly-fish in during the summer. Pros: it is a very durable kilt and would be great for knocking around the house and doing those projects. Would stand up well to a lot of punishment and the hem is the right length for me- shorter than most of the other kilts that UT Kilts has. It fits about 1/2 inch bigger around the waist than the same size Highlander Gray kilt I recently ordered so that was a plus as it fits much better for me. Cons: I was thinking this was going to be a very very lightweight ripstop - like the material in a lightweight backpacking tent and although other reviewers called it lightweight, I envisioned it much lighter. I suppose it is the weight and texture it is in order for it to keep it's shape or pleats looking good. Maybe after I wash it a few times it will feel and look a lot different. It is labeled poly/cotton so I don't know how long it will take to dry should it get wet, but with cotton in the mix, it should be longer. The added heaviness of the cotton will probably make it hotter as well - will see.
The great thing about a kilt and fishing in the wilderness - one can always take it off if you don't want to get it wet- way easier than pants!

    My new favorite summer kilt.

Posted by Dan Tree on 8th Aug 2017

I love the material for this kilt, it is light and strong. I still need to see how it holds up in the long term. My one complaint is that there was some loose that I had to cut, and one belt loop that was not attached all the way, I just sewed that myself and was set.
