Isle of Skye Standard Tartan Wool Kilt 16oz

This amazing wool kilt is the perfect answer to those wanting a traditional, lighter weight kilt that can be for both formal and informal occasions.   It is made in the authentic Isle of Skye tartan from fabric woven in Scotland. The kilt is made from up to 5 yards of worsted wool tartan fabric woven in Scotland.  This makes for a lighter weight kilt while still trying to keep as much "swing" in the pleats as possible and keeping the price down.  Whether you need something lighter for a highlander games or just something more budget friendly, the UTKilts standard traditional kilt is perfect.  Your purchase includes matching flashes.

The regular price on this exact kilt is usually around $300 or more.  These won't last long at under $200.

Tartan Information

From the Scottish Tartans Authority: "Instigated and registered by Mrs Rosemary Nicolson Samios in 1992, an Australian of Skye descent, now living in Skye. It was selected through a worldwide competition won by weaver Angus MacLeod from Lewis who produced the first commercial quantities in traditional kilt weight in 1993 at Lochcarron Weavers in North Strome, within view of the Cuillin Mountains. The colours of the tartan depict those of the island, often called the 'Misty Isle'.

Who can wear this tartan?

This tartan is classified as a district tartan.  There is no specific connection that is needed to wear it.

Measuring

The size that you choose for your order will be the smallest setting on the buckle straps (i.e. a size 36 adjusts from a 36 up to just under a 39.5).  Depending on where you want the buckle to end on your waist will determine your size.  A good rule of thumb to follow is to go down 1-2 inches from your measured waist size.  That will put you in the middle of the buckle straps (i.e. 40 measured would order a 38 or a 35 would order a 34). You must measure in order to get the correct size.  Please visit our measuring section of the website to determine which size is best for you.  DO NOT use your pants or jeans size to determine your kilt size.
